THE AMAZING RACE

Fifteen teams lined up at Faith UP Church in Washington for the 2006 Amazing Race.  They were handed maps and a clue pointing them to their next destination.   And then they were off.

Kayla Demo and Ty Pompei line up at Faith Church to find the first clue.

Bruce Marshall sprints through the cemetery at Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church with the clue to the next destination, which was...

...Brewster's Ice Cream in South Strabane.  Each team had to finish a quart of vanilla with miniature sampling spoons in order to get the next clue.

Ben Neff, eyes full of steely determination, and teammate James D'Orazio wait to compete in the next event, this time at Thomas UP Church.

Sack races are hard enough when you're the only one in the sack.  Add three other people, and it's almost impossible.  (Click here to see video of another Bentleyville team in action.)

Nick Anderson balances a golf ball on a tee during a relay race at Thomas.

This one was harder than it looked.  All Ty Pompei, left, and Bruce Marshall, center, had to do was make a balloon dog.  The instructions were on the table in front of them.    Instead of making the dog, Bruce tried valiantly to convince the judges to accept his "balloon snake."

Arr, mateys.  Thar be Ty, Kayla and Heather.  Avast.

The challenge was to suck Jello through a straw.  Which, as the kids found out, is really, really hard to do.
